Final Week at Home

Yesterday marked one week until I fly up north. This will be a busy week getting everything in order for me to leave for three and a half months. I have been getting my business organized and am lucky that I have a wonderful agent who is going to help me while I’m away. This has been a blessing as we won’t miss a beat for my customers during this adventure.

While most of my gear is being staged in Fargo, ND and the canoe is being transported to Minnesota I still have quite a bit of gear that I’m bringing with me from Florida. It has been making me think about ShelterBox’s mission. I’m packing everything I’m going to need to survive for the next three months. Imagine losing everything in a natural disaster. Where would you get what you need to survive? That’s where ShelterBox comes in. Unfortunately there are currently 85 million people displaced in this world due to natural disasters and conflicts. We don’t have the resources to help all of those people so many are going without shelter. That’s where I hope this trip helps. I hope to raise awareness and money so that our organization can do more.

I’ve been preparing my home for being away until October. I’m lucky because I’m going to have a home to come back to. I’m choosing to spend three months living in mother nature. So many people in this world don’t have that luxury of a home to come back to.

So as I prepare for the trip of a lifetime would you please consider donating any amount so that a family who doesn’t have a roof over their head tonight may have one tomorrow night. You can make your tax deductible contribution to ShelterBox USA at this site:
