Things are really starting to come together. Almost everything I will need for my trip has already arrived at the staging point in North Dakota. The canoe which is being generously supplied by Nova Craft Canoes arrives in Minnesota on July 1st, one day before I arrive.
This past week the trip has made three local papers in and around my community including Lehigh Acres, Naples, and the front page of my hometown paper in Cape Coral. Awareness about the Mississippi Expedition and ShelterBox USA is really starting to build.
I have been spending my time training both by canoeing on the Estero River and rigorous workouts at the gym. There has also been a lot of time getting my affairs in order and managing my business since I will be gone for about three and a half months.
During the trip my blog will serve more as a daily journal. There will be updates and posts on our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/MississippiExpedition/. There will be a lot of pictures on our Instagram page https://www.instagram.com/mississippiexpedition/?hl=en. You can also follow me on twitter https://twitter.com/ME4ShelterBox. I will have a Garmin GPS unit on me and you will be able to track my progress 24 hours a day through our website www.mississippiexpediton.com. So please follow along this adventure and share with your friends. I’m hoping it will be fun and entertaining and also informative for our entire audience.
And most importantly please support the 68 million people around the world who are currently displaced today by donating at www.shelterboxusa.org/expedition/
